This website has been created in the loving memory of Rhonda Jane Schauer, who passed away on September 21st 2009 at the age of 39 years.
A great artist, a bright mind, with an unusual mix of creative and technical skills, she had and amazing talent for computer graphics, animation and web design.
She contributed to the computer graphics community as a Siggraph volunteer, and ran the Web Graphics program for three years while being webmaster of www.siggraph.org at the same time.
Her rests will lie in Barbourville, Kentucky, next to her grand mother Rose Jane who also passed away earlier this year 2009.
I was able to meet her in 2003, during Siggraph in San Diego the day of her 33rd birthday, July 28th, and since then, we were in touch and shared good and bad moments together, remembering specially her corrections to my poor English and the expressions she taught me: "it sucks like a Hoover", "helmut hair", "comb over", "ewww" and some others. What a great laugh she had!
Last time I saw her, just 5 weeks before she died, she deeply moved me when she showed her favourite picture of me in a pendant locket, and a box with all the postcards I kept sending her during all these years, what demonstrated she never forgot me, like I never did with her. We had a long talk, remembering our short story together, and also told me how happy she was by Barack Obama (she also liked Hillary Clinton) being the president of the United States.
This joke was one of Rhonda's favourites:
It was a real pitty we were not brave enough to leave our respective countries to be together forever, and make our dreams true, visiting her birth place in Chicago, and traveling around Alaska and Egypt.
I will miss her every day of my life, and as I promised to her when she was alive, I will adopt her beloved cat, Morrigan, who will be living with me in Barcelona for the rest of our respective lives, and will provide her with the love and attention Rhonda was giving to her, and which Rhonda didn't get for herself as she deserved.
She visited me in Spain in 2006, and we were able to fly to Madrid, where she visited the Prado Museum and the Modern Art museum, and we also had a short trip to Andorra, another country for her list of visited countries.
While in Barcelona, I took her to my home town, but we also visited the Picasso museum, Dalí museum, Gaudí buildings, Park Güell and Sagrada Familia.
She loved flowers and parks, being her favourites Piedmont park and the botanic garden in her hometown Atlanta.
While I was in Atlanta, we had time to visit the puppetry museum, the amazing aquarium, the world of Coca-Cola, the CNN and the different parks and museums in town. We had a great trip to Memphis to see a NBA match of the Grizzlies versus the Raptors, and visited Graceland too. We had opportunity to visit "Disgusta" - Augusta, Diamond Head and Savannah together.
If there is some web access in heaven, you will either complain for not having released this domain, or for not including some of your Javascript code in it, but you were not able to teach me enough of your skills for web design and you also know how stubborn am I.
I really hope we meet in our next life and we can be happy together.
I will always love you ... Jordi
